Vermilion River Greenway Trail & Twister Hill Park
201 W. Broadway Street, Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
The Vermilion River Greenway Trail is Streator’s best stretch for walking, jogging or biking: a 1.4-mile path along the river surrounded by natural scenery and wildlife. Its trailhead is Twister Hill Park at 201 W. Broadway, near Streator Township High School, which was created in 2018 and offers parking, a playground, exercise equipment, picnic shelters and restrooms that open during events. That combination is ideal for families, since kids can play while adults get a workout, and then everyone can head down the trail together. Fishing spots, shade and river views make the trail feel far removed from town even though it is right at the edge of it. The trail connects visitors to Streator’s broader outdoor recreation and river access points. For a regular exercise route with real scenery, this is the one locals should bookmark and visitors should prioritize.
