Heritage Park
Corner of Main and Monroe Streets, Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
Heritage Park proves a park does not need to be big to be memorable. This downtown pocket park opened in 2012 thanks to the efforts of local businesses, and it is packed with nods to Streator’s industrial past: a replica of the historic Kerr Clock, a glass bottle mold that recalls the town’s glassmaking days, and a coal pick honoring its mining heritage, all set against a striking three-story mural. It is a great spot for photos and a quick history lesson in one stop. In summer it comes alive with the Jammin’ at the Clock music series, which turns the corner of Main and Monroe into a community gathering place. The landscaping makes it a pleasant place to pause while exploring downtown shops and restaurants. Small, smart and full of character, Heritage Park is one of the best examples of Streator celebrating its own story.
