Our Take

Central Park on East Elm Street is designed with the youngest kids in mind, and it shows. Its newly upgraded playground is built for ages two to four, it has inclusive swings, and, best of all, it features a concrete bicycle pathway specifically designed for young riders learning to bike. That last detail is genuinely thoughtful; finding a safe, smooth, traffic-free place to practice riding is a real challenge for many families, and this park solves it. Picnic tables, shelter areas and shade make it easy to spend an afternoon. It is not a destination park with trails or sports fields, but for parents of toddlers and preschoolers it may be the most useful park in town. If your little one is ready to ditch the training wheels, bring the bike and helmet here. It is a small neighborhood park that does one thing especially well.
