Marilla Park
1669 Marilla Park Road, Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
Marilla Park is Streator’s big backyard and arguably its best all-around park. Donated in 1919 by the Plumb family and expanded in 2015, it now covers about 65 acres, and the site was once the city’s first drinking-water source, a neat bit of history underfoot. Today it is built for doing things: an 18-hole disc golf course, walking trails, fishing with handicapped-accessible docks, butterfly gardens, a playground, public art, picnic shelters and restrooms. That mix makes it equally good for a family reunion, a solo hike or a competitive round of disc golf. The shelters and open space are suited to large gatherings, and you will need a Park Use Permit from the city to reserve space for an event. If you want one park that covers almost every outdoor interest, from fishing to frisbee, Marilla is the one to put at the top of your list.
