The Streatorland Community Food Pantry has been feeding the Streator area for more than 50 years, serving individuals and families across LaSalle and Livingston counties. Its mission statement, providing nutritious food with dignity and equity, comes through in how it operates. The pantry is open for short windows: 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Thursday and Friday, plus a Wednesday evening session from 5 to 6:30 p.m., which helps working families who cannot make a morning slot. If you want to help, there are easy ways in. The pantry is a Kroger Community Rewards partner, so linking your Kroger card sends donations its way at no cost to you. It welcomes on-call volunteers to unload deliveries, and it lists canned vegetables as a current need; donations can also be dropped off at Streator Home Savings Bank on South Monroe. A vital, long-running local resource.
