Hardscrabble Lions Club
1806 N. Shabbona Street, Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
The Hardscrabble Lions Club takes its name from Streator’s original frontier nickname, a nice nod to local history. Chartered in spring 1999 when seven members of the Streator Lions Club transferred to start it, the club is a mix of men and women living out the Lions motto, “We Serve,” and it shares responsibilities so no single member carries the load. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Bruce Township Hall, 216 North Sterling Street. Lions clubs worldwide are known for vision programs such as eyeglass recycling and screenings, along with local fundraisers and service projects, and the club’s website includes a calendar, project list and photo gallery. Anyone looking to volunteer, meet neighbors and give back will find a welcoming way in here.
