Streator Unlimited, Inc.
305 N. Sterling Street, Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
Streator Unlimited has served individuals with disabilities since 1965, and it is one of the most quietly important organizations in town. It helps people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities find and keep jobs in the community, and it has been certified in Customized Employment for years, a forward-looking move ahead of state changes ending sub-minimum wage by 2029. The organization is creative about opportunity, too: it launched the SU Print Shop online store for shirt printing and a store selling rhinestone designs by participant Eva Ring, both giving the people it serves meaningful work. Local voters have named it a Top Workplace for People with Special Needs. Supporters can help through Kroger Community Rewards, and employers can call about hiring partnerships. The main office on North Sterling Street is open weekdays with a midday break. A genuinely admirable nonprofit worth supporting.
