Our Take
Starved Rock Motor Inn is Streator’s character pick. The property dates to the 1950s and ’60s, and rather than hide that, the renovation leans into it with deliberately retro mid-century styling paired with updated, clean rooms. It’s in the Northpoint shopping district on North Bloomington, minutes from downtown, and about 25 minutes from the entrance to Starved Rock State Park, which is the reason many guests come. Amenities are simpler than at the Rock Island Inn: free continental breakfast, Wi-Fi and a lounge area, and listings note it’s pet- and kid-friendly with a bar. It carries a 4.0 rating from about 220 reviews, noticeably better than its larger neighbor. County tourism lists it under the Travelodge by Wyndham flag. If you’d rather stay somewhere with a bit of personality than a generic chain box, this is the one.
