Our Take
New Beginnings Baptist Church at 204 South Monroe describes its mission as “Making Him Known,” and it focuses on bringing the Gospel into the community. The weekly schedule is straightforward: Sunday school classes for children and adults at 9:30 a.m., a worship service at 10:45 a.m., and a Wednesday evening worship and prayer service at 7. The website includes an “I’m New” page for first-time visitors, along with sermons, missions, an events calendar and online giving. Its downtown location puts it among the cluster of churches near City Park, within walking distance of many older neighborhoods. The church invites people to contact it any time during the week for prayer or other needs, a sign of a congregation that wants to be available beyond Sunday mornings. Check the calendar for special events.
