Our Take
The Church of the Open Bible builds hospitality right into its Sunday schedule, and that is what stands out. Adult Bible class starts at 9 a.m., a coffee fellowship follows at 10, and the Celebration Service begins at 10:45. Setting aside a dedicated coffee hour before worship, rather than after, signals a congregation that wants people to actually meet each other. The name of the main service hints at a contemporary, upbeat style. Services are also live-streamed on Facebook and posted to YouTube, so you can get a feel for the music and preaching before attending in person, which is genuinely useful if you are church-shopping. The church is on South Sterling Street, and its website, openbiblestreator.org, is the place to confirm times. For people who value fellowship as much as the sermon, this is one of the more welcoming-looking schedules in Streator.
