Spring Lake Park
1413 E. 16th Road (Spring Lake Road), Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
Spring Lake Park is the place to go when you want Streator’s outdoors at their wildest. The 35-acre park takes its name from an early 20th-century ice-harvesting business that once operated there, and although the dam is long gone, the name and the story remain. Today it is a popular hiking destination with shaded trails and water views. Its standout feature is that it is home to the area’s only public equestrian trail, which makes it a rare and valuable resource for local horse riders. There is no playground or splash pad here, so it is better suited to walkers, trail runners and riders than to families wanting a play area. If City Park is Streator’s front lawn, Spring Lake is its back forty. It is a quiet, scenic escape and an excellent choice for anyone who prefers dirt paths and trees over pavement and picnic tables.
