Streator Family YMCA

Our Take

The Streator Family YMCA, on Oakley Avenue, is the town’s go-to community fitness and family center, and its hours are built for working people. Doors open at 5 a.m. Monday through Friday and stay open until 9 p.m., so early-morning gym-goers and after-work exercisers are both covered. Saturday hours are a short 8 a.m. to noon, and the Y is closed on Sundays, which is worth knowing if weekends are your main workout time. As a YMCA, its mission goes beyond the gym floor; it describes its goal as making sure every child, family and community has what they need to achieve their best. It sits right by Centennial Elementary, a convenience for families with young kids. Check its website for programs, membership details and facility information, since offerings change by season. For anyone looking to stay active in Streator, the Y is the obvious place to start.
