Our Take
Shaw Appliance on South Vermillion Street is a multi-generational appliance dealer and an authorized Speed Queen dealer, which matters if you want a washer and dryer built to last decades rather than years. A business listing names LG, Frigidaire, Crosley and Midea among its brands and covers refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers and microwaves too. The service list is the real draw: delivery, removal of the old unit, hookup, layaway and service on what they sell. That last one is the difference between a local dealer and a big-box store when something breaks under warranty. Listed hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5 and Saturday 8:30 to noon, closed Sunday. Its website is shawappliancesil.com. Curbside pickup is also offered for smaller items, and the shop sits near Vermillion and Bridge streets.
