Mi Mexicana sits at 110 East Main Street, which puts a Mexican grocery right in downtown Streator, steps from Walgreens. A tienda like this is the place to find what big supermarkets carry only in a token aisle: dried chiles by the bag, Mexican cheeses and crema, fresh tortillas, imported sodas and snacks, and the spice blends that make home cooking taste right. It is also a welcome addition to the mix of downtown storefronts, which otherwise lean heavily toward boutiques and antiques. The city lists it among specialty and international markets. We could not confirm a phone number or hours from public listings, so those fields are blank; it is easy to pop in while you are already downtown.
