Al’s Place
1603 N Bloomington St, Streator, IL 61364
Our Take
Al’s Place is a longtime fixture on North Bloomington Street, listed by the city tourism office among Streator’s casual and family dining choices. It’s a traditional American restaurant, the sort of place built around breakfast plates, comfort-food lunches and a dependable cup of coffee rather than culinary experimentation. Public ratings are solid if not spectacular, and that seems about right for a neighborhood diner that values consistency over flash. The one frustration is that published hours vary from listing to listing, so I’m not repeating any of them here; call ahead or check the Facebook page before you go. Its location, right across from the 3rd Street Cafe and close to the main retail stretch, makes it an easy add-on to a shopping trip. For visitors who want to eat where the regulars eat, Al’s Place is a sensible and unpretentious choice.
