Our Take
The Salvation Army’s thrift store is part of its 360 Life Center on South Bloomington, and it is the cheapest secondhand shopping in Streator by a wide margin. A regional 211 listing says most items cost a dollar or less, children’s clothes are 75 cents, and jackets are free, which makes it a real resource for families stretching a budget. Volunteers staff the store in three-hour shifts. Donations are accepted only during open hours, two bags or boxes of freshly washed items per person, and the store will not take books, CDs, baby gear such as car seats, mattresses or upholstered furniture. There is no drop-off or pickup service. Hours are weekdays only, 9 to 3. Purchases support the center’s local social-service programs.
