Runnings is the farm-and-fleet answer for a town surrounded by corn and soybean fields. The Northpoint Drive store lumps together things you would otherwise buy at four places: insulated workwear and boots, dog food and livestock feed, fencing and lawn supplies, hunting and fishing gear, automotive fluids and a deep seasonal section that swings from garden centers to snow shovels. That makes it the most useful local stop for outdoor recreation now that Streator has few dedicated sporting-goods shops. Its listing with the Streator Chamber shows it is plugged into the local business community rather than just parachuting in. Weekday hours run until 8 p.m. and it opens Sunday mornings, which suits farm families who shop around chores. Come for a bag of feed, leave with a new pair of Carhartts.
