Our Take
The Streator Lions Club, established in 1953, is now in its eighth decade of service, and its motto is the Lions’ classic “We Serve.” The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Chippers Restaurant, and its 2025-27 president is optometrist Dr. Steven J. Trzepacz, a fitting leader for an organization famous for sight programs. Projects include sight and hearing screenings and assistance, an annual broom sale fundraiser, and a hospital equipment loaner program that lends wheelchairs, walkers and similar items to residents who need them, a quietly important service. The club’s website includes its history and a calendar. Anyone who’d like to volunteer, or who needs to borrow medical equipment, can call (815) 674-1591. Visitors are welcome at meetings.
