Streator Area CEO is a civic investor listed at 201 East Main, the same address as a downtown bank branch, and the name points to the Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities program used in many Illinois communities. CEO programs place high school juniors and seniors in a year-long, hands-on business class that meets in local workplaces rather than a classroom. Students tour businesses, hear from local leaders, work with mentors and launch both a class business and individual ventures, ending the year with a trade show. For Streator, that’s a direct investment in keeping young talent and entrepreneurial spirit in town. Business owners can get involved as investors, mentors, speakers or tour hosts.
